Brands Hatch 2nd In Class!

Brands Hatch 2nd In Class!
General, Racing
Life has been slightly crazy since my podium appearance at the British Grand Prix and I had no idea how I would top such a wonderful and slightly life-affirming weekend. Until I raced at Brands... The weekend after the British Grand Prix, I was racing at Brands Hatch on the Indy circuit. Brands Indy is one of my favourite circuits, but leading up to the weekend I was nervous. The last time I drove that circuit I had a big mechanical failure which caused by first big crash in motorsport. The crash made me question everything I loved about the sport and the season that followed almost saw me leave racing for good. I couldn't wait to be back racing there in the CSCC however, I couldn't help being apprehensive.…

Snetterton Sauna Race Report

Snetterton Sauna Race Report
Racing
As temperatures rose this weekend, I was set to participate in two races back with the Porsche Club Championship at Snetterton. I haven't raced at this circuit for three years and whenever I have come here to race, test or watch Andrew rallying it's always absolutely boiling! This weekend was no different. Testing on Friday was hot but I knew it was forecast to be five degrees hotter on the Saturday and I was already struggling with the heat in the cooler testing sessions. Usually, my car has air conditioning as we've left in the standard climate control equipment which came with the car in it's road guise. Because of my injury, I have lost the ability to sweat or get goosebumps as my internal body thermostat is not connected…

Silverstone Race Report

Silverstone Race Report
Racing
Last weekend saw my first ever race on treaded tyres in the Cayman in the Classic Sports Car Club series on the Silverstone International Circuit. I love Silverstone, it's my home circuit and is a very special place for me for a number of reasons so I was really happy to be racing here again. The CSCC is a series that runs classes purely on engine capacity and instead of slicks the regulations only allow treaded tyres to be used. My Cayman is set up for the Porsche Club Championship which is run on a power to weight class structure and the regulations dictate that I run at 1350kg (and I'm currently running at 1390kg) with stock engine and brakes allowing little to no modification to the cars at all. I…

Donington Race Report

Donington Race Report
Racing
This weekend saw my first race of the season at Donington and let's just say it could have gone better. After a particularly cold winter, meaningful testing for most club racers in the country has been difficult to do ahead of the start of the season. I haven't had many test days in the lead up to the my first race and none of them have been warm and dry. Driver excuse number one well and duly noted! Qualifying on new slicks on a warm track should have been absolute heaven at my favourite race circuit, but I couldn't string a decent lap together. After coming in for tyre pressures, I went back out and started chipping away at my times. However, I got stuck behind a novice driver and then…

Talon Outdoor Sponsor Nathalie McGloin Racing For Second Year

Talon Outdoor Sponsor Nathalie McGloin Racing For Second Year
Sponsorship
It's with huge pleasure that I announce that Talon Outdoor have come on board as a major sponsor for a second consecutive year with Nathalie McGloin Racing. Talon were one of the first companies to back NMR with formal sponsorship and they've enjoyed a great relationship since first meeting in 2015. Nathalie was first introduced to Talon Outdoor staff after doing a talk on behalf of Wings For Life in London. Nathalie loved the Talon work ethic and saw parallels with her own: innovative and a fantastic attitude towards strong female leadership. This relationship with Talon has become stronger over time and has led to this exciting second year of sponsorship. Talon had featured in the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 league table as one of the top three fastest growing UK companies…

The Night Of Champions

The Night Of Champions
Racing
A couple of weeks ago I got an email from Lorraine Gathercole from the BWRDC completely out of the blue. She informed me that I had won the prestigious Lord Wakefield Trophy, an award presented to women for outstanding achievements or services to Motorsport. I was gobsmacked. I've only been in this sport for a short period of time and looking at the list of previous winners, including Susie Wolff and Claire Williams, I could not believe I was soon to be the next name on that trophy. I was invited to the MSA Night of Champions at the RAC Club to collect my award and could not have been more excited in the lead up to the event. However, I'd been struggling with some pain from having all four…

Your New President of the FIA Disability and Accessibility Commission

Your New President of the FIA Disability and Accessibility Commission
Racing
This is my first blog of the year and I have some very exciting news to announce! Last October I was invited to Paris to meet with Gérard Salliant and Peter Bayer of the FIA to talk to them about my experiences with the disabled racing licence process. I was more than happy to make the trip but was slightly puzzled as to why they had asked for a copy of my CV ahead of the meeting. The meeting was very productive and about forty five minutes in Peter and Gérard looked at each other and said, ‘we haven’t yet told Nathalie why we asked her to come to Paris today!’. What then followed is one of the proudest moments of my life and one that I still find slightly…

Croft Race Report

Croft Race Report
Racing
It was a tough race going into Croft this weekend. I’ve had ongoing problems with the car since my crash at Brands and Croft was the first weekend where I had a properly fixed car to drive. You’d think that that would have given me some confidence but I was more nervous than I’ve ever been going into the weekend. Friday was the toughest test session I’ve ever had. The track felt horrible! A leaky Marcos leaving a trail of oil online everywhere, pick up like I’ve never seen before and a set up that I found way too stiff for the bumpy surface at Croft left me wanting to go home on the Friday evening. I couldn’t think of anything I wanted to do less than get in that…

Speaking At The FIA Sports Conference

Speaking At The FIA Sports Conference
Racing, Speaking
Last week was rather incredible. I was asked a few months ago to speak at the FIA Sports Conference in Geneva and I couldn't really believe that I'd been invited! I looked at the speaker list that included Toto Wolff, Mark Webber, Michelle Mouton (to name but a few) and thought, what the hell do they want me there for?! I absolutely jumped at the chance and rearranged my week to accommodate a trip down to Geneva. We drove down in the Turbo as the flight times just wouldn't work for us, and to be honest - any excuse to take the Turbo on a European road trip! After a short blast through France on Monday, we arrived on Tuesday afternoon in Geneva just in time for the start of…
