STANLEY® has today announced its partnership with successful British racing driver, Nathalie McGloin, which will see the brand collaborate with the high-achieving young sportswoman throughout her journey over the next twelve months, and beyond.
Nathalie McGloin is an accomplished female racing driver who was paralysed from the chest down following a serious car accident, aged just 16. Through sheer resolve and personal determination, she has transformed her life and excelled in achieving her ambitions, becoming the world’s first, and only, female tetraplegic athlete competing in the car racing arena. Nathalie races an adapted, hand-controlled Porsche 987 Cayman S in the Porsche Club Championship, regularly participating at top level against able-bodied racers.
Nathalie co-founded the charity, Spinal Track, allowing disabled drivers to enjoy track day experiences at Silverstone, UK, in a hand-controlled Volkswagen Golf GTI. As part of the collaboration, STANLEY will become a principal sponsor of Spinal Track.
Nathalie frequently travels the world sharing her unique story, inspiring people with a disability to discover new opportunities in the competitive world of motorsport.
Committed to helping professionals to cut through challenges, and enabling them to excel with smart, high-performance tools and solutions, STANLEY has recognised Nathalie as an outstanding example of strength, tenacity and willpower – and the brand is working closely with her and her teams to support the next exciting stages of her motorsport career throughout 2017.
The 12 month partnership with STANLEY will encompass an array of initiatives. McGloin’s expert team of technicians and mechanics will be able to rely on a full range of STANLEY tools to maintain vehicles and equipment behind the scenes, and the company’s logo will feature prominently on Nathalie’s racing suit. All through the season, she will share her progress and successes via regular updates on her – and STANLEY’s – social media channels, connecting with new communities, and relaying her remarkable story along the way.
A renowned motivational speaker, Nathalie is scheduled to make guest appearances at company conferences, including Stanley Black & Decker Women’s Network events, where she will engage with women from the organization’s UK and US operations.
On the partnership, Nathalie McGloin commented, “I have never given up on my ambitions, despite the setbacks I have experienced in my life. As a result, I have discovered that you can excel and achieve your goals when you are truly determined and focused, and I encourage anyone who faces a similar challenge in life to pursue their passion, however difficult. This collaboration with STANLEY will enable me to further my career and accelerate my performance to the next level, as well as allowing me to continue encouraging others to follow my lead.”
Mike Simpson, CMO, Global Corporate Marketing, Stanley Black & Decker, said, “At Stanley Black & Decker, our purpose with regard to our sporting investments is to support those who make the world united. We are proud to announce this association with Nathalie – an extraordinarily gifted and influential athlete – providing a new platform to showcase her talent even further, and enabling her to share her story with audiences around the globe.
